Latest Funding Round: Series E (November 2025)
In November 2025, Funds closed its Series E round, raising ¥1.83 billion (~$12M USD). The round was led by the SMBC-GB Growth Fund No. 1 (SMBC-GBグロース1号投資事業有限責任組合), a fund co-managed by Global Brain Corporation and SMBC Edge (a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation). Other participating investors included Asset Management One (アセットマネジメントOne), PKSHA Technology, ALPHA (an independent VC), and Quester Capital (a Hong Kong-based boutique investment bank). The round brought the company's cumulative total fundraising above ¥8.5 billion.
Funding History
In March 2023, Funds closed its Series D round, raising approximately ¥3.6 billion (~$24M USD) — consisting of roughly ¥3.4 billion in equity and ¥200 million in debt. The round was led by ANRI and included new investors such as Hanwha Asset Management (Korea), Rakuten Securities (楽天証券), Cygames Capital, and Mercuria Holdings (マーキュリアホールディングス), alongside existing shareholders including Global Brain, B Dash Ventures, Itochu Technology Ventures, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, Mizuho Capital, and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. This round brought the cumulative total to approximately ¥6.8 billion.
In April–July 2021, Funds closed its Series C round totaling approximately ¥2.23 billion (~$15M USD). New investors in this round included ANRI, Japan Post Capital (日本郵政キャピタル), Merpay (メルペイ), and FFG Venture Business Partners (FFGベンチャービジネスパートナーズ), alongside existing shareholders Global Brain, B Dash Ventures, Itochu Technology Ventures, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, Mizuho Capital, and AG Capital. The Series C brought cumulative fundraising to approximately ¥3.2 billion.
In August 2019, Funds (then operating as Crowdport) raised approximately ¥700 million (~$5M USD) in its Series B round. Investors included Itochu Technology Ventures (伊藤忠テクノロジーベンチャーズ), Global Brain (グローバル・ブレイン), Mitsubishi UFJ Capital (三菱UFJキャピタル), and the SV-FINTECH Fund. Additional capital alliances were formed in 2020 with Dentsu (電通), au Kabu.com Securities (auカブコム証券), and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (三井住友信託銀行).
In March 2018, Funds raised ¥310 million (~$2M USD) in its Series A round from B Dash Ventures, AG Capital (AGキャピタル), and Mizuho Capital (みずほキャピタル).
Use of Proceeds
The Series E proceeds are being used to accelerate international expansion across Asia — including the acquisition of AMFC in Taiwan, a joint venture (FundsQuester) in Hong Kong, and establishing a Singapore headquarters for the company's global holding entity (FIGC).
