See the evolution of a company’s pricing, positioning, product, and messaging every six months for the last 2+ years using screen
Clay (Free) to take screenshots of past home or pricing pages in WayBack Machine
Want to pull instant screenshots of old versions of home pages, product pages, pricing pages, or other website pages?
This Claybook will find older versions of specific web pages on Archive.org’s Wayback Machine and return URLs and screenshots so you can analyze the evolution of a company’s or competitor’s messaging and positioning.
How it works:
First, copy this template in Clay.
If you’re already a user, you’ll be directed to your workspace. If not, you’ll be prompted to create a free Clay account.
The interactive demos on the right will walk you through each step of this Claybook.
Next, in the first column, paste a home page, pricing page, product page, or other page you want to analyze over the last two years. Clay will automatically find the Archive.org URL and take a screenshot.
Note: There are 40-second time delays on screenshots to give Archive.org time to load. Run the Claygent summary column (last column) after all screenshots have been taken, otherwise it won’t have the data it needs to produce a summary.
Currently, Claygent will produce a summary of how a specific page has evolved over time, including changes in pricing, positioning, and messaging. If you want to customize what Claygent looks for, edit the prompt.
Last, if you want to look at the evolution of specific pages over a longer period of time, you can either edit the existing timestamps (which create Archive.org URLs) or add additional ones.
Track changes to customers, company, or competitor home pages, product pages, pricing pages, and more.
Simply copy this template, follow the steps above, and let Clay work its magic.
If you have any issue, you can ask for help in Slack or schedule time with a Clay expert.
