Before you begin

New job hires spend 70% of their budget in the first 100 days, and when those new job movers are previous customers, they convert 3x higher.

But what about the companies who lost employees and need help filling in the gaps?

In this Claybook, I’ll go through the workflow that we used to help Handoffs (software that summarizes customer interactions) find ICP-fit prospects who just lost customer success, marketing, or sales employees and may need help catching up on dozens of customer threads. 

What you can do with this Claybook:

Step 1:

First, copy this template in Clay.

If you’re already a user, you’ll be directed to your workspace. If not, you’ll be prompted to create a free Clay account.

Step 2:

Find job movers through LinkedIn

Next, using the “Find People” search in Clay, create a new table to find recent job movers who fit your specified criteria (title, time since changing jobs, industry, etc.).

Then, import their profiles into the Job Movers Table template.

Step 3:

Find job movers' previous bosses

Run another “Find People” enrichment to identify the previous bosses of your job movers. Use the previous company of your job mover as the search criteria. 

Navigate to the “Right employee count” view to find a filtered list of job movers who worked at companies with 20+ employees. Then click “Add enrichment” to find the managers of those job movers.

Note: The Job Mover Table template has saved views for different roles (customer success, sales, account manager) and ICP filters (employee count, time since job change). You can customize or delete any of these.

Step 4:

Enrich previous bosses with emails 

Find the work emails of previous bosses.

Once enriched, import any relevant data from your original Job Movers table that will help you personalize outbound

Step 5:

Scale personalized outbound 

With all relevant data about your job movers and their previous bosses in one table, you can use each data point as a merge field in an email sequencer.

We push enriched data into custom merge fields in Smartlead where it drafts a complete and personalized email automatically.

From there, we trigger an automated email sequence to our list of former bosses and wait for booked meetings to pile up.
