Promotion signals overview

Promotion signals alert you when a monitored contact experiences a role change of key contacts, enabling your sales, go-to-market, and marketing teams to take timely and targeted actions.

Why track promotions?

Executive promotions signal a high-intent period for converting at a higher rate and offer an ideal opportunity to leverage existing rapport. Given the brief window, it’s essential to act quickly to capture the opportunity.

How do I set up promotion signals?

How does this work?

Set up the Promotions tracker for your contact list. When a contact’s company remains the same but their title changes, Clay triggers a promotion event, adding a row to your Promotion Events table. From there, you can configure additional workflows to act on these promotion signals automatically.

What do I need to get set up?

With Promotion Signals, you can trigger workflows when key contacts change roles. Here’s how to get started:

  1. People Table: Create a table in Clay that includes the LinkedIn profiles of the individuals you want to track for promotions. You can also include a column for the last recorded company URL.
  2. Specify Columns: Select the LinkedIn profile URLs to monitor for promotions. Optionally, include the title of the last position to confirm if your contact has been promoted.
  3. Custom Workflow Triggers: From here, you can automate actions based on promotion signals. Examples include:
  • Slack Notifications: Receive promotion alerts in Slack.
  • Email Sequences: Trigger automated email drafts for promoted contacts.
  • Write to Table: Record promotion data in other Clay tables.
  • CRM Updates: Automatically update CRM records upon detected promotions.

Monitor promotions of current list of contacts

This list should be empty, for every job promotions in this you will receive a new entry.

In the Promotion Tracker, under People Table, specify the table containing your list and select the column that includes the LinkedIn URLs of the contacts you want to monitor.
